Abstract

The digital divide among older adults is a critical challenge in contemporary society, particularly in regions with limited access to information and communication technologies (ICT). This study focuses on the *Instituto Tecnológico Superior Rey David* in the Daule canton of Ecuador, aiming to analyze the barriers older adults face regarding ICT usage and to propose strategies for their digital inclusion. Using a quantitative-descriptive design, a structured survey was administered to 60 older adults from the surrounding community to assess their access, digital skills, attitudes, and training needs. The results indicate that 68% do not own their own devices, 75% lack basic digital skills, and 60% express distrust of technology, primarily due to a fear of scams. However, 85% showed interest in learning through tailored training programs. The study concludes that personalized digital literacy programs, access to affordable devices, and awareness campaigns are essential to narrowing the divide. The institute can spearhead these initiatives by collaborating with local stakeholders to ensure their sustainability, thereby promoting social inclusion and improving the quality of life for older adults in Daule.
